Spartan Club Giving Sets a Record

Per UNCG Athletics website ...

The UNCG Spartan Club, the official fundraising organization for UNCG Athletics, surpassed its annual scholarship fund goal of $300,000 for the 2012 fiscal year and set a new all-time record for the scholarship fund. The Spartan Club posted an annual scholarship fund total of $307,479, a 20.7% increase over last year’s total, increasing their efforts by over $50,000 and surpassing the previous high that was set in 1987.

Since UNCG is not part of a power 6 conference. They do not have huge streams of television and media rights revenue coming in from ESPN and other places. So, hopefully the giving from individual donors will continue.

Also, I'd like to remind everyone that UNCG came out with a new logo for it's NC license plate. There needs to be 300 applications at the NC DMV before they will go into production. Most of the proceeds go back to the university. So, that's another way to give back to UNCG. You can fill out the application here.

Aye Dash. What do you know about this alleged Emergency SoCon Meeting with School Chancellors and Presidents Today in Charlotte? I found this post at http://moctalk.yuku.com/topic/19160...1#.UAmGSGHcMl8. Update the SpartaNation when you have more information about this rumor. Thanks.

And I found this article per the timesfreepress.com 'Southern Conference meetings produce candid talk, no decision'. Here is the link at http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2...k-no-decision/

I pre-ordered my plate when they first announced moving away from Minerva and introducing the UNCG Shield. Anyone know the status of the plate program? I figure if we can raise $300K, getting 300 committed to the plate shouldn't be a big deal right.... right?

I pre ordered my plate under the Minerva logo years ago. Reaching the magic number 300 should not be a problem for UNCG. We could easily reach and surpass that goal if the athletic department would strongly push this to our Spartan Club members. The torch has been passed from the alumni house to the athletic dept and vice versa. Somebody at G needs to step up and take ownership of project and get her done!!

^^^ As stated in the above article, they met and decided nothing. Not much to decide when some people know they're leaving , but aren't saying it out loud.

CofC Board of Trustees meeting Tuesday. Moves will or won't happen after that meeting.
