Spartan Notes:
- UNCG jumped out to a 17 point halftime lead was too much for Furman to overcome. The Spartans defeated the Paladins 88-78 on Saturday afternoon. Brian Cole lead UNCG with 14 points and 8 rebounds.
- Cole was 1 of 6 Spartans to score in double figures against the Paladins. Mikko Koivisto (14), Kyle Randall (10), Brandon Evans (11), Pete Brown (12) and Ben Stywall (11) joined in on the scoring action.
- After playing 5 straight home games, tonight's game is the first of 3 straight on the road for UNCG.
- The Spartans are now 2-2 in the Southern Conference.
- Ben Stywall lead UNCG in scoring (13.1) and rebounding (9.4). Kyle Randall leads the team in assists (2.3).
- For the season, UNCG is shooting 38.6% from the field, 28.4% from behind the arc and 69.9% from the free throw line.

Mocs Notes:
- Last time out, Chattanooga made a trip down to Statesboro and beat Geogia Southern 75-63. Ty Patterson scored 25 and Josh Odem scored 22.
- Patterson was named SoCon Player of the Month for December. He averaged 16 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3 assists per game in December.
- The Mocs are 1-1 in the Southern Conference. They lost at home to Elon, and defeated Ga Southern on the road this past Wednesday.
-Even thought Chattanooga is 9-6, two of the wins came against non-D1 teams. The Mocs defeated UVa-Wise and Tennessee Temple earlier this season.
- Patterson leads Chattanooga in scoring (17.3). Ridge McKeither leads the team in rebounding (5.8). Keegan Bell leads the team in assists (5.0).
- For the year, Chattanooga is shooting 44% from the field, 34.7% from behind the arc and 65.2% from the free throw line.

My Thoughts:
It's very important for UNCG to keep up in the race for a bye in the North Division. As of right now, it looks like WCU, App State, UTC and the Spartans are going to fight for these 2 spots. So, I think the Spartans need to get at least one of the next three road games (while holding serve against these teams at home).

If UNCG can carry over some confidence from Saturday, this could be a very competitive basketball game.

Go Spartans !!!
