Spartan Notes:
- Last time out, Maryland's 21-7 run to start the second half was enough to overpower UNCG. Ben Stywall led the Spartans with 17 points (11 from the free throw line) and 11 rebounds.
- Stywall now has three consecutive double-doubles. All three have came against ACC competition.
- UNCG is stepping back into SoCon play against the Terriers. The Spartans currently stand at 1-1 in the conference after a home loss to College of Charleston and a road win at Samford.
- UNCG is still winless at home. The Spartans are 0-7 at the Greensboro Coliseum.
- Freshman Korey VanDussen has scored in double figures the last two games. Fellow freshman Brian Cole has done the same in the past two games.
- Stywall leads UNCG in scoring (12.7) and rebounding (9.6). Kyle Randall lead the team in assists (2.2).
- For the year, UNCG is shooting 37.9% from the field, 29.5% from behind the arc and 71.8% from the free throw line.
Terrier Notes:
- Last time out, Wofford held on to a 13 point halftime to defeat Santa Clara, 80-72. Noah Dahlman led the Terriers with 14 points.
- Wofford has won 4 of its last 5 games, including a home win against South Carolina. Their only loss was to Kent State.
- South Carolina was the second SEC school that Wofford defeated. Back on November 17, the Terriers defeated Georgia in Athens, 60-57.
Wofford comes into the game with 0-2 SoCon record. They have lost a home game to App State and a road game at Western Carolina.
- Dahlman leads the team in points (18.0) and rebounds (6.9). Brad Loesing leads the team in assists (3.3).
- For the season, Wofford is shooting 43% from the field, 34.1% from behind the arc and 71.9%from the free throw line.
My Thoughts:
Wofford certainly has played very well against a challenging schedule. They beat 2 SEC schools and played well on the road at Pittsburgh, Michigan State and Illinios. They have a veteran team that has beaten UNCG in Greensboro the last two seasons. Those game were at Fleming Gym, though.
It's time to see if the brutal schedule is going to start to pay off for UNCG. There are no more teams left on the schedule that will run in a wave after wave of big men to beat up the Spartans. Hopefully the last week's games haven't taken so much out of UNCG that they aren't ready for league play. I think it's about time for UNCG to pick up a win in front of the home crowd.
Go Spartans !!!
